Healthy Habits Day 7 – Move Your Body

Healthy Habits Day 7 – Move your Body Every chance you get

I believe there’s a direct link between physical exercise and mental state. Remember the saying “A sound mind in a sound body”? what’s good for your body is good for your mind, and what’s good for your heart is good for your brain.

Daily habits that maintain-or improve-your physical health do the same for your mental health. Moving your body not only improves cardiovascular health, it improves cerebrovascular health. There are a wide range of studies that have found exercise improves brain function, structure, and connectivity. These brain improvements are directly linked to improved learning, memory, and cognitive function.

Physical activity is also proven to be an effective treatment for depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD and a wide range of the psychological problems. It’s simple, EXERCISE is medicine! In many cases, aerobic activity, strength training, yoga and mindfulness can be more effective than pharmaceutical drugs.

The latest and best news from the latest research indicates that even a little exercise every day goes a long way. You may not be able to spend hours at the gym working out, but you can still achieve a sound mind in a sound body by moving around.

I love all the new personal fitness devises and especially my Apple Watch. When I first purchased the watch it was set to let me know if I sat for more than 1 hour during the day by vibrating on my wrist. I thought I would need to change it because there was no way I sat for a full hour. Boy was I wrong! It’s very enlightening is all I can say.

Peace . Love . Joy everyone and get up and move today!
